Keynote Speaker

Nancy Norton

The National Nurse Practitioner Symposium is pleased to announce Nancy Norton as the Keynote Speaker for the 2020 symposium. As a comedian and former nurse, Nancy uses her unique perspective to deliver a program, teaching the physiology and many benefits of humor. She combines comedy with her experiences and insight to show how humor has been proven to benefit businesses, families, relationships, and individuals by reducing stress and trauma triggers, while simultaneously increasing creative problem solving, team building, bonding, conflict resolution, resilience, job retention, overall joy, immunity, and good health.

Nancy is the winner of the 2018 Boston Comedy Festival. She has appeared in “Evening at the Improv” on A & E, as well as Amazon Prime Video and PBS, plus been featured on Nickmom Night Out on Nickelodeon. One of her passions is helping people remember the joy and empowerment one gets from being in the present moment. Humor is a basic human need and helps us stay healthy, de-stress, cope with trauma and enhances creative problem solving.

Nancy’s healthcare anecdotes will leave you in stitches… and really wanting to STAY WELL! The Keynote Presentation, “Find Your Ahahaha Moments!” will take place Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the Keystone Conference Center.

Rocky Mountain Retreat

A Rocky Mountain Self-Care Retreat to Reflect, Regroup and Re-Charge

July 7-8, 2020
Keystone Ranch & Keystone Conference Center Keystone, Colorado

Accreditation

9.5 contact/CE hours will be awarded to those that attend the entire retreat (partial credit is not available) and complete the required evaluations. Certificates will be offered by ACCME, ANCC and AANP, with acceptance of pertinent content by ACNM, AAPA and NAPNAP.

Nurse Practitioners by nature are very giving people, but are you giving so much that you have little left when it comes time to take care of yourself? Are you looking for ways to confront a lifestyle or job that is far too stressful? Do you have a hard time saying NO without feeling guilty?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this retreat is for you!

This day and a half retreat will teach you to:

  • Discover the science of human flourishing
  • Gather motivation and set goals to make changes that serve YOU
  • Build on your core strengths
  • Interrupt the patterns that add stress to your life
  • Set boundaries and create your own personal policies
  • Master habit formation
  • Learn the art of self-care
    …..and so much more!

You and your patients are best served when you also take the time to do what’s right for you. This retreat will help you reflect, regroup, take charge to create the kind of life and work you deserve.

We are all in the business of health: promoting it, helping others find it, teaching it and showing it. This retreat will help you:

  • Master the art of self-care without feeling selfish, because you can’t give away what you don’t have.
  • Help keep you in compliance with the ANA Code of Ethics, Provision 5, which states: The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including:
    • responsibility to promote health and safety
    • preserve wholeness of character and integrity
    • maintain competence, and;
    • continue personal and professional growth.

The purpose of the retreat is to singularly focus on the personal and professional growth in caring for the self, which will allow each attendee to build a plan that reflects their most important values. Each person will leave with a sense of duty to make their own health, wellness and wholeness, not only possible, but a priority.
